The infamous Clifford Smith — a name local people still recognise. One man who returned from war to his home town of Burnley and established a small solicitors’ practice in 1928, just off Manchester Road.
In September 1989, under the banner “Solicitors Sell Houses”, the practice opened an estate agency arm in a prominent position on Manchester Road. The idea — that one professional practice should handle a transaction from start to finish — remains as fresh and unique today as it was then.
In 2012 the practice evolved into Clifford Smith Sutcliffe under the ownership of Smith Sutcliffe, another name synonymous with the town. Honest, professional and reliable — values you don’t always associate with an estate agent, but ones we’ve built our local success on.
